This program is being held thanks to a grant supported collaboration with Open Spirit: A Place of Hope, Health & Harmony (www.openspiritcenter.org), Tasty Harvests, and the Parks & Recreation Department.

Calling all families who love to get creative, grow fresh food, and make delicious meals together!

"Tasty, Fun & Beautiful: Creating a Family Herb Box" is an interactive, hands-on program designed for parents and kids to experience the joy of growing herbs while using all of their senses! 

WHAT TO EXPECT:
- Touch, Smell & Taste!  Explore a variety of fresh herbs and discover their unique textures, scents and flavors.  
- Get Creative!  Paint and decorate your very own herb planter to make it a unique centerpiece for your home or garden.
- Plant & Grow!  Learn the best ways to plant and care for herbs that thrive in different seasons.
- Harvest & Enjoy!  Use your homegrown herbs in easy, tasty, seasonal recipes for Summer & Fall.

Two Seasonal Sessions! 
- Late Spring:  Plant and grow Summer herbs like basil, mint, and thyme - perfect for refreshing Summer recipes!

Mid-Summer:  Prepare for the cozy flavors of the Fall with herbs like sage, rosemary, and oregano.

This is the perfect family bonding experience that brings gardening, art, and cooking together in one fun-filled program!  Whether you are new to gardening or looking for a hands-on way to introduce your kids to fresh flavors, this experience will leave your family feeling connected to nature and excited to cook with homegrown ingredients!   

PLEASE ONLY REGISTER ONE PERSON PER FAMILY!
Each Family will receive one herb box to paint and plant.

Be sure to wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty!

Unlock your inner food gardener by exploring the exciting world of herbs! At this event with Sudbury Valley Trustees you will build your own herb planter of tasty herbs with Safiyat Hamiss and Tasty Harvests.

All materials will be provided: planter, weed barrier fabric, potting soil, and 3-4 herb plants (choice of herbs may include: mint, sage, lavender, rosemary, parsley, chives, cilantro, oregano, thyme).

Temple Beth Sholom invites the Open Spirit community to join this special holiday event. Guest educator, Safiyat Hamiss of Tasty Harvests and Open Spirit will guide us through creating our own seed starter kits. Stay for a special Tu B’Shvat Fruit Seder. Learn about our Tree Fundraiser! Learn about Tu B'Shvat, or "the birthday of the trees," and meet new friends! You are also invited to participate in Temple Beth Sholom's Tree Fundraiser to help replace trees on the temple grounds that have been lost in recent years during weather events.
